As with all good things, the idea for Elite Education has progressed over time. In February of this past year I was talking with my cousin about her daughters home schooling education. As a person who is extremely passionate about knowledge and understanding in education, I was thrilled at thought of teaching her daughter when the opportunity presented itself.
In the beginning I was nervous as to what I was getting myself in to. My work was going to be directly judged by children's parents based on how well they are learning from my instruction. But I gave myself a pep-talk { I've done this before, this is no big deal } and here I am! After the stress of starting a program from scratch, I've gotten my bearings, and come to understand the growing world of home schooling. It's an interesting one. And one that I am surprisingly agreeing with more and more.
Elite Education was started to help the girls at MGA Elite Gymnastics, who work out 21- 38 hours per week. Obviously there is little time for school in that type of schedule, even if you are the most dedicated person to your studies. That's where I came in. I took home schooling curriculum and condensed it down to courses that could be taught over a year - long course {32 weeks} or half year course { 18 weeks }. It's definitely been a difficult task, and one that is not completely finished.
I learn new things every day, and I am constantly researching the best way to teach certain material and subjects. I keep up with homeschooling groups, the Texas Home Schooling Coalition, Texas Non Public Schools, the list goes on, and on, and on.....
{you get the idea}
So needless to say, this is a lot of work.
{But I am a firm believer that if you do what you love, then you will love what you do.}
Lucky for me, I love teaching.
